Indian Army inaugurates ‘North Tech symposium’, features Indian-made defence gear

A three-day North Tech symposium featuring cutting-edge defence technologies, Indian-made defence gear, and weapons got underway on September 11.

Lt Gen MV Suchindra Kumar gave the opening remarks at the conference that the Indian Army, the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM), and IIT Jammu organized.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Defence, the event’s subject is “Atmanirbhar Bharat Takniki Navikaran Ke Dwara Uttari Kaman Sainya Abhiyan Chunautiyon ka Nivaran” (Self-reliant India Addressing Northern Command Military Operation Challenges through Technological Renewal).

The event has invited a lot of brilliant minds and state-of-the-art defence technologies under one umbrella of HQ Northern Command.

Nearly 180 Indian defence businesses, including MSMEs, DRDO, DPSU, and Simulator Development Division, actively participated in it. This interactive platform for information dissemination through joint army-industry involvement was also intended to advance the government’s “Make in India” drive, according to the statement.

The symposium provided a platform for mutual idea exchanges between the Indian defence industry and the Army and served to highlight cutting-edge technologies and innovative products that offered solutions to some of the complex challenges faced by the security forces in the Northern Command.
The technology and goods on show covered a wide range of topics, with some of the more notable ones including situational awareness and surveillance, tactical mobility, weaponry, soldier protection, communications, combat medical facilities, robots, simulations, and training aids.

The GOC-in-C of Northern Command stated that he was persuaded by the wide range of domestically produced technology that can further advance the country’s “Atmanirbhar Bharat” program.
