A 35-year-old man from Rajasthan was apprehended at the airport after allegedly divorcing his wife via triple talaq over the phone while working in Kuwait. The man, identified as Rehman, is also accused of marrying a Pakistani woman after the divorce.
According to police, Rehman met Mehwish, a Pakistani national, through social media and married her in Saudi Arabia. Mehwish arrived in Churu on a tourist visa last month and is currently staying with Rehman’s parents.
Deputy SP Ranveer Singh from Hanumangarh’s SC/ST Cell reported that Farida Bano, Rehman’s 29-year-old wife from Bhadra in Hanumangarh, lodged a complaint last month alleging dowry harassment and the triple talaq divorce.
Rehman returned to Jaipur from Kuwait on Monday and was detained by police from Hanumangarh at the airport. After initial questioning, he was arrested the following day.
Rehman and Farida Bano married in 2011 and have two children, a son and a daughter. Rehman had been working in the transport sector in Kuwait to support his family.
