In Haryana’s Nuh District, mobile internet and bulk SMS services have been halted for two days due to the Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s intention to proceed with their Brij Mandal Jal Abhishek Yatra on August 28.
An official announcement on Saturday confirmed that internet services will be inaccessible from noon today until midnight on August 28.
The Vishwa Hindu Parishad announced their plans for the Brij Mandal Jal Abhishek Yatra on August 13.
Despite the Haryana government’s refusal to grant permission for the Yatra due to concerns about potential disruptions of law and order, the VHP remained steadfast.
Earlier, internet and SMS services were suspended in Nuh after clashes erupted between two communities on July 31.
Following the Nuh Deputy Commissioner’s recommendation to the state’s Home Department, the Haryana Home Secretary issued orders to cease internet services from August 26 to August 28.
A member of the Panchayat committee, Rattan Singh, stated on August 13: “The religious organizations told the Panchayat that their yatra was not completed and they want to resume it on August 28. The Panchayat has agreed to their demand and supported them.”
The Panchayat member said, “Permission is usually taken before the commencement of such a yatra. Once permission is obtained, it becomes the responsibility of the police to guarantee our security.”
