A popular hangout spot, the Rameshwaram Cafe in Bengaluru witnessed a shocking blast on Friday, March 1, leaving several injured. Karnataka’s Chief Minister Siddaramaiah confirmed the explosion as a low-intensity improvised explosive device (IED) blast, intensifying the ongoing investigation into the incident.
The precise cause of the blast remains under scrutiny. Divya Raghavendra Rao, Co-Founder & Managing Director of Rameshwaram Cafe, described the explosion as originating near the handwashing area, indicating the detonation of a bag allegedly placed by an external party.
In a bid to ensure transparency and swift action, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is set to inspect the blast site, following standard protocols. Karnataka’s Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar reassured Bengaluru residents, affirming the government’s commitment to maintaining law and order.

Amidst the unfolding events, Tejasvi Surya, BJP’s Bengaluru South MP, took to social media to report that he had spoken to the cafe owner. According to Surya, the blast was triggered by a bag left behind at the cafe, shedding light on a potential lead in the investigation.
Shortly thereafter, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah confirmed to reporters that the blast was caused by an improvised explosive device (IED), marking a significant development in the investigation.
