Escalating tensions in the Middle East region, Israeli warplanes launched extensive airstrikes on Lebanon on Wednesday. Thus, marking the heaviest exchanges between Israel and Hezbollah in over a year.
In response, Hezbollah militants fired multiple rockets into Israel, claiming to have targeted the Mossad headquarters in Tel Aviv.
As a result, it caused 15 fatalities and left 50 injured. Further, attacks expanded to various locations, including the beach resort town of Jiyyeh and several areas in southern Lebanon.
Earlier in northern Israel, Hezbollah launched heavy barrages, with approximately 40 rockets fired in a single salvo. Some of these rockets were intercepted, while others landed in populated areas, including an assisted living facility in Safed, which fortunately reported no injuries.
Additionally, Israel’s air force conducted significant strikes in southern Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley, known as a Hezbollah stronghold. Later, the Lebanese group announced, it fired a missile aimed at the Mossad headquarters to support the Palestinian people in Gaza and defend Lebanon.
Meanwhile according to lebanese health officials, Israeli strikes have killed 569 people, including 50 children, and injured over 1,800 in Lebanon since Monday.
An estimated half a million people have been displaced, with many seeking shelter in schools and other facilities.

Moreover, Pope Francis condemned the Israeli airstrikes as a “terrible escalation” of the conflict, while British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned that the fighting between Israel and Hezbollah is pushing the region closer to a broader crisis.
