Jaipur Metro Set to Become National Model: Rajasthan CM Bhajanlal Sharma

In a recent meeting with officials from the Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation (JMRC) Limited, Rajasthan’s Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma emphasized the importance of developing Jaipur Metro as a model for metro systems across the country. The meeting, held at the Chief Minister’s Office, focused on the upcoming phase of the metro’s expansion and instructed the creation of a fresh Detailed Project Report (DPR) for extending the metro from Sitapura to Ambabadi and Vidyadhar Nagar.

CM Sharma reiterated the government’s commitment to providing efficient transportation for the residents of Jaipur, emphasizing the need to prioritize the development of Jaipur Metro to serve as a benchmark for metro systems nationwide. He stated, “Ensuring easy transportation for the people of Jaipur is the state government’s top priority. With this goal in mind, Jaipur Metro should be transformed into a model metro system for the entire country. It is essential to accurately assess expenses and costs for this project to ensure efficient utilization of financial resources while enhancing transportation facilities for the public.”

Additionally, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma urged the timely commencement of Phase 1-D of Jaipur Metro, which will connect Mansarovar to the Ajmer Road intersection on the 200-foot bypass—a project included in the government’s 100-day action plan.

Furthermore, Sharma directed officials to integrate major densely populated areas of the city into the Jaipur Metro’s network and explore possibilities for future expansions.

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Sudhansh Pant, Additional Chief Secretary (Finance) Akhil Arora, Additional Chief Secretary (Chief Minister) Shikhar Agarwal, Principal Secretary (Chief Minister) Alok Gupta, Principal Secretary (Urban Development) T. Ravikant, and senior officials from JMRC.
