Six terrorists associated with the banned terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) were apprehended by the Jammu and Kashmir Police in a joint operation with the Army. In addition, a significant quantity of weapons and ammunition was retrieved from their possession.
According to Jammu and Kashmir Police a major breakthrough was achieved by the arrest of six terrorist associates in a joint operation of kulgam police and 9 Rashtriya Rifles and a huge cache of arms and ammunition were recovered on the instance of the accused in light of specific information regarding the conduct of subversive activities in the Mirhama and Damhal Hanjipora areas of Kulgam district.
As per the reports, a pistol, 18 rounds, a hand grenade, four UBGL shells, 30 AK 47 rounds, 446 M4 rounds, eight M4 magazines, an AK 47 magazine, an Insas magazine, two mortar shells, a wireless set, four walkie talkies, and other incriminating materials were retrieved by the security forces.
According to the J&K Police, during the preliminary investigation, it became apparent that the terrorists were associated with the banned terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohhamed and were communicating with terror handlers across the border through a variety of social media platforms.
According to police, the arrested suspects were determined to disrupt the tranquility of district Kulgam by using grenade attacks, intimidating innocent civilians, standoff fire attacks on PRI members, minority communities, and other tactics.
A case has been filed at the DH Pora police station under the relevant sections of the law. To reveal the larger conspiracy, additional investigation is underway.
