An alleged terrorist of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), a terrorist organization that has been outlawed, was arrested in Bandipora district for persistently engaging in anti-national activities, according to police. He was charged under the Public Safety Act (PSA).
The accused identified as Maqsood Ahmad Malik has been lodged in the Central Jail Kotbhalwal, Jammu, police said.
A terror associate of the Resistance Front (TRF), a banned Pakistani terrorist organization, was allegedly detained by J&K Police earlier on August 15 during a check in the Bandipora district’s Kehnusa village.
The development came on the heels of the Jammu & Kashmir Police arresting three terror associates of the banned outfit from Srinagar, who, the police said, were planning to “carry out terrorist activities” in the city.
As a result of a tip-off, Bandipora police claimed that on Monday they began naka checking at Kehnusa village and captured the terrorist associate.
Police claimed that after additional questioning, they found one hand grenade in his hands.
