Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted a huge roadshow in Mysuru on Sunday to promote the BJP’s campaign for the Karnataka assembly elections. On both sides of the road, a massive crowd of people and BJP supporters had assembled to greet the Prime Minister. PM Modi was riding in a specially built vehicle and responded to the pleasantries by waving to the crowd. People also threw flowers and waved BJP flags along the route to show their support.
Former BJP leader KS Eshwarappa was also present at the roadshow, in addition to the Prime Minister. Notably, he declared his retirement from electoral politics just before the party released its candidate slate. Earlier in the day, PM Modi slammed the Congress and Janata Dal (Secular) parties, calling them “symbols of instability,” and declaring that the people of Karnataka have decided to end the state’s rule of unstable coalition governments.
Addressing a public meeting here in Belur, PM Modi said, “This time, the people of Karnataka have decided to end the unstable governments that have ruled the state for the past decades. Congress and JD(S), both are symbols of instability. In whichever state, Congress party is left, they make headlines only due to the tussle among the regional leaders”.
“Everyone is watching what is happening in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh. People are in a dire state, development works are halted. While Congress is busy with its infighting. JD(S) is daydreaming. It is Congress party’s B Team and wants a share in looting the people,” he added.
In the final phase of the campaign, the Prime Minister has on the ground to campaign for the BJP, holding a number of poll rallies and roadshows. Karnataka will hold Assembly elections on May 10 and vote counting will take place on May 13.
