In light of the murder & rape of a 31-year-old doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, the government of West Bengal recently dismissed RG Kar’s superintendent Sanjay Vashisth on Sunday.
In his stead, the Student Affairs Dean of RG Kar College, Professor Bulbul Mukhopadhyay will now assume the additional charge of superintendent.

This dismissal came amid rising outrage over the incident, as junior doctors staged a cease-work protest demanding justice for their deceased colleague. As a result, the strike has caused severe disruptions in patient care, prompting the hospital administration to cancel all staff leave.
What Happened In The Case So Far?
Meanwhile, a civic volunteer was recently detained, in connection with the murder of female postgraduate trainee doctor.
According to the police officer, the arrested man was an outsider with unrestricted access to the hospital’s departments. Additionally, authorities have also questioned five individuals who were on duty with her on Thursday night.
