Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Voting To Be Held On April 19, Counting On June 4. Here’s The Full Schedule

The Chief Election Commissioner, Rajiv Kumar, announced that the general election for 543 Lok Sabha seats will take place in seven phases starting from April 19. The counting of votes will occur on June 4.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) released the dates for the Lok Sabha elections along with elections for four state Assemblies.

Here is the phase-wise breakdown of the elections:

– Phase 1: April 19, with nominations closing on March 27. Polls in 21 States and Union Territories.
– Phase 2: April 26, nominations closing on April 4. Covers 12 States and Union Territories.
– Phase 3: May 7, nominations closing on April 19. Covers 12 States and Union Territories.
– Phase 4: May 13, nominations closing on April 25. Covers 10 States and Union Territories.
– Phase 5: May 20, nominations closing on May 3. Covers 8 States and Union Territories.
– Phase 6: May 25, nominations closing on May 6. Covers 7 States and Union Territories.
– Phase 7: June 1, nominations closing on May 14. Covers 8 States and Union Territories.

In total, Phase 1 will have 102 constituencies, Phase 2 will have 89, Phase 3 will have 94, Phase 4 will have 96, Phase 5 will have 49, Phase 6 will have 57, and Phase 7 will have 57 constituencies.

Additionally, the assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha are scheduled for May 13, while Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim will have their Assembly polls on April 19. Vote counting will take place on June 4.

Approximately 97 crore voters are eligible to cast their votes across the 543 Lok Sabha constituencies, and with the announcement of dates, the Model Code of Conduct comes into effect immediately.
