Ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024, BJP released its fifith list of Lok Sabha candidates. BJP on Sunday named Bollywood Actor Kangana Ranaut as the party’s Lok Sabha candidate from Mandi constituency in Himachal Pradesh, marking her political debut. Kangana Ranaut hails from the state of Himachal Pradesh.
In the previous year, Kangana Ranaut suggested the possibility of venturing into electoral politics, expressing that she would consider running in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections if she receives blessings from Lord Krishna. Later, Kangana Ranaut tweeted on X:
Industrialist and former Congress MP Naveen Jindal who joined BJP today has been fielded from the Kurukshetra seat in Haryana by BJP. Earlier today, Congress leader and former MP Naveen Jindal declared his departure from the Congress party on Sunday. Through a statement on X platform, Jindal conveyed his appreciation to the party and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
“I represented Congress Party in Parliament as MP from Kurukshetra for 10 years. I thank the Congress leadership and the then Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh. Today I am resigning from the primary membership of the Congress Party,” he said.
Industrialist Naveen Jindal represented the Kurukshetra constituency in the Lok Sabha for two terms (2004-2014). However, he lost to the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Raj Kumar Saini in the 2014 national elections and was not fielded by the Congress in 2019.
Naveen Jindal also added that he wants to work for the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s agenda of ‘Viksit Bharat’. In the company of BJP’s general secretary Vinod Tawde, Naveen Jindal officially became a member of the BJP. Tawde remarked that Jindal’s inclusion in the party would support the government’s objective of enhancing the nation’s economic growth and prosperity.
Congress’s Jairam Ramesh unveiled jibe after Naveen’s Jindal departure from Congress and remarked, “When you need a giant-size washing machine that had to happen.” Jairam Ramesh added how Naveen Jindal had made zero contributions in the last ten years when he was part of the party, resigning from the party is a major joke.
Moreover, the BJP’s fifth candidate list includes Arun Govil, the original small screen ‘Ram’ who is contesting from Meerut, Pallavi Dempo to contest from South Goa, Jitin Prasada to contest from Pilibhit, Varun Gandhi is not contesting while Maneka Gandhi is going to contest from Sultanpur, Ravi Shankar Prasad to contest from Patna Sahib, Dharmendra Pradhan to contest from Sambalpur, Giriraj Singh is being fielded from Begusarai, Sambit Patra to contest from Puri, Odisha, Sita Soren from Dumka, K Surendran to contest from Wayanad, Agnimitra Paul to contest from Midnapore and Jagdish Shettar to contest from Belgaum.
