Lok Sabha Polls : Congress Conducts CEC Meeting For Bihar

The Congress Election Committee meeting for Bihar is currently ongoing at the All India Congress Committee (AICC) office in New Delhi on Sunday. Chaired by Party President Mallikarjun Kharge, the CEC meeting is attended by prominent leaders like Sonia Gandhi, Salman Khurshid, KC Venugopal, and others.

Recently, on Friday, Congress unveiled its ninth list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, featuring three candidates for Karnataka and two for Rajasthan. CP Joshi will represent Rajasthan’s Bhilwara, and Damodar Gurjar is slated to contest polls from Rajasthan’s Rajsamand.

Meanwhile, the party has nominated E Thukaram for Karnataka’s Bellary, Sunil Bose for Chamarajanagar-SC, and Raksha Ramaiah for Chikkballapur. In an earlier announcement on Thursday, Congress unveiled its eighth list of candidates for Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, and Jharkhand.

In Jharkhand, Kalicharan Munda will contest from the Khunti seat, Sukhdeo Bhagat from Lohardaga, and Jai Prakashbhai Patel from Hazaribagh. In Madhya Pradesh, Rao Yadvendra Singh will contest against Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, Tarvar Singh Lodhi from Damoh, and Pratap Bhanu Sharma will contest against former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for the Vidisha Lok Sabha constituency.

In Telangana, Athram Suguna is the candidate for Adilabad, Tatiparthi Jeevan Reddy for Nizamabad, Neelam Madhu for Medak, and Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy will contest from Bhongir.

For Uttar Pradesh, Congress has announced four candidates: Dolly Sharma from Ghaziabad, Shivram Valmiki from Bulandshahr, Nakul Dubey for Sitapur, and Virendra Chaudhary from Maharajganj.

During the 2019 Lok Sabha election, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured 303 seats, while the Indian National Congress (INC) won 52 seats. The upcoming election for 543 Lok Sabha seats will be conducted in seven phases starting from April 19. Approximately 97 crore voters are eligible to cast their votes in the general election.
