Lok Sabha polls :PM Modi To Conduct rally, Roadshow In UP today Also Scheduled To Visit Ajmer

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to continue his election campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls with a series of events in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. Following his campaign launch in Meerut, PM Modi will be holding an election meeting in Saharanpur on Saturday, April 6, as informed by party sources. This will be followed by a roadshow in Ghaziabad later in the day.

PM Modi is scheduled to arrive in Saharanpur at 11:30 am, where he will headline an election meeting. After addressing the gathering in Saharanpur, he will then proceed to Ajmer in Rajasthan to address another public meeting. Later in the day, he will return to Uttar Pradesh for the roadshow in Ghaziabad, which is set to begin at 5:15 pm.

The polling for Saharanpur is slated for the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections on April 19, while Ghaziabad will go to polls in the second phase on April 26.

Speaking at a massive public rally in Rajasthan’s Churu on Friday, PM Modi emphasized the transformative changes brought about by the Centre in the past decade under his leadership. He likened the work accomplished so far to an appetizer, stating that the main course was yet to be served.

“All that we have accomplished till now is just a trailer. These days, when we go to big hotels to eat, they bring in a few appetizers at first. Similarly, what Modi has done (till now) is an appetizer and the main course is yet to come. We have to take the country forward. You have seen the country take many strides over the last 10 years. However, it was in a very bad state under previous regimes at the Centre,” PM Modi remarked.

Uttar Pradesh, the country’s most populous state sending the maximum 80 members to the Lok Sabha, will see polling across seven phases starting April 19. Rajasthan, on the other hand, will have polling in two phases on April 19 and April 26. The first phase will cover 12 Lok Sabha seats, while the second phase will include the remaining 13 seats.

In the 2014 general elections, the BJP made significant gains in UP, winning 71 seats. However, in 2019, the party’s tally decreased to 62 due to strong competition from the Bahujan Samaj Party and the Samajwadi Party. The BSP secured 10 seats while the SP had to settle for 5.

The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) had a resounding victory in 2019, securing wins in 303 seats, while the Congress finished at 52 seats.

The upcoming Lok Sabha elections will be held in seven phases, with nearly 97 crore voters eligible to cast their votes, according to the Election Commission (EC). The counting of votes is scheduled for June 4.
