In a tragic incident on Saturday evening, a building collapse in Lucknow’s Transport Nagar area has claimed the lives of five people, with 28 others successfully rescued so far, according to officials. Rescue efforts are ongoing as several individuals are still feared trapped under the debris.

The collapse occurred in the densely populated area, prompting an immediate response from various emergency services. “NDRF, SDRF, fire brigade, and police are actively involved in the rescue operations,” stated Municipal Commissioner Lucknow, Indrajit Singh. The Fire Department, along with the SDRF and NDRF teams, is working tirelessly to reach those still trapped.

To expedite the rescue process, drones are being utilized to survey the site and aid in the evacuation efforts. “There have been reports of five deaths to date,” said Uttar Pradesh Home Secretary Sanjeev Gupta.

District Magistrate (DM) of Lucknow, Suryapal Gangwar, confirmed that 28 people have been rescued and are receiving medical treatment. He visited the hospital where the injured are being treated and assured that top-level monitoring is in place to ensure proper care for the victims. “We are committed to providing the best possible treatment to those affected,” Gangwar told ANI.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken swift action in response to the incident. He has instructed officials to expedite the relief efforts and ensure that all injured individuals are promptly transported to hospitals. CM Yogi is continuously reviewing the situation and coordinating with various departments to maximize the effectiveness of the rescue operations.

Additional Director General (ADG) Law and Order Amitabh Yash highlighted the Chief Minister’s proactive approach: “The CM has been closely monitoring the situation and has mobilized senior officials to coordinate the rescue operations across all relevant departments, including medical services, fire services, and municipal councils.”

Union Defence Minister and Lok Sabha MP from Lucknow, Rajnath Singh, expressed his condolences and concern over the incident. “The news of the building collapse is deeply saddening. I have spoken with the District Magistrate and am informed about the ongoing relief efforts. The local administration is fully engaged in assisting the victims,” Singh posted on X.
