Lucknow: UP CM Yogi Adityanath to convene NDA allies meeting in Lucknow

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will meet with National Democratic Alliance (NDA) party leaders on Monday evening at Lok Bhawan in Lucknow, one day prior to the Rajya Sabha election. CM Yogi will chair the meeting, which begins at 7 p.m., and the purpose is to give an outline of the plan and make arrangements for the Rajya Sabha elections. Later on, CM Yogi will have dinner at Lok Bhawan with all of the NDA MLAs. Durvesh Singh, the supervisor of Naveen Bhawan, stated that all arrangements are finished regarding the Rajya Sabha Elections.

“All preparations are complete and have been thoroughly checked by the Vidhan Sabha team and the Election Commission. The voting will be held between 9 am to 5 pm,” he added.
Moreover, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has also called for dinner with party MLAs at the party office in Uttar Pradesh.
The Election Commission has scheduled the Rajya Sabha elections for 15 states, including Uttar Pradesh, for February 27.
Earlier, all 11 nominations made for 10 Rajya Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh were found valid, a press release from the Joint Secretary and Assistant Returning Officer of the Vidhan Sabha read.

The BJP has seven candidates: former Union Minister RPN Singh; former MP Chaudhary Tejveer Singh; former state minister Sangeeta Balwant (Bind); party spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi; former MLA Sadhna Singh; and former mayor of Agra Naveen Jain. Amarpal Maurya is the general secretary of the party’s Uttar Pradesh unit. However, Sanjay Seth, the BJP’s eighth candidate, is expected to fight hard in one of the seats. Actor MP Jaya Bachchan, former IAS officer Alok Ranjan, and Ramji Lal Suman have all declared for the SP. According to an official, a candidate from Uttar Pradesh needs almost 37 first preference votes to be elected to the Rajya Sabha.

Members of the Rajya Sabha have a six-year term, and elections are held for 33% of the seats every two years. There are 245 members of the Rajya Sabha at the moment. Tuesday is the election day for the ten Rajya Sabha seats, and the results will be declared that same day. On February 27, the day of the elections, the results will be declared. The Rajya Sabha biennial elections for 56 seats have been announced by the Election Commission. The current incumbents’ terms expire in April. Twelve of the 245 members are presidentially nominated, and 233 of the members are representatives of the States and Union territories of Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi, and Puducherry (as of October 31, 2019).
