The Regional Meteorological Department in Bhopal has issued a warning for exceptionally heavy rainfall in six Madhya Pradesh districts over the next 24 hours. These districts—Satna, Vidisha, Raisen, Betul, Pandhurna, and Sidhi—are expected to receive between 115 mm and 204 mm of rain, potentially leading to significant disruptions due to the ongoing monsoon. Additionally, continuous rainfall over the past 48 hours has resulted in waterlogging in several areas of Bhopal, the state capital.
“Monsoon conditions are active throughout the state, with rainfall occurring in most districts. The rain is expected to continue as the monsoon trough line is currently passing over Madhya Pradesh. Additionally, a low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal is likely to bring beneficial conditions to Madhya Pradesh in the next two days, resulting in heavy rainfall across the state,” said BS Yadav, a meteorologist with the regional met department, Bhopal.
In Bhopal, significant rainfall is anticipated today and tomorrow, with a slight decrease expected thereafter, according to Yadav. For the next 24 hours, a warning has been issued for very heavy rainfall in Satna, Vidisha, Raisen, Betul, Pandhurna, and Sidhi, with expected precipitation ranging from 115 mm to 204 mm. Additionally, a yellow alert has been issued for heavy rainfall in 16 other districts. While most areas in the state are experiencing normal rainfall, some districts in the northeastern region are seeing less than usual precipitation. However, Satna, Sidhi, Rewa, and Singrauli are expected to return to normal rainfall levels in the upcoming weather cycle, Yadav noted.
