On Monday, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) Chief Raj Thackeray revealed the candidates for two assembly seats in the upcoming Maharashtra elections. Bala Nandgaonkar will contest from the Shivadi Assembly constituency in Mumbai, while Dilip Dhotre will run from Pandharpur.
On August 3, Raj Thackeray met with Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde to discuss key issues and various housing projects. According to the Chief Minister’s Office, the meeting addressed concerns related to the redevelopment of BDD Chawl, the redevelopment of the police housing colony, and other housing initiatives. Senior Maharashtra government officials were also present at the meeting.

Earlier, on July 25, Raj Thackeray announced his plan for the MNS to contest 200 to 250 seats independently in the forthcoming Maharashtra assembly elections. In the 2019 Assembly elections, the MNS secured only one seat. However, in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, the MNS supported the BJP.
The recent Lok Sabha elections have bolstered the Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance, with Shiv Sena (UBT) winning seven seats, Congress securing 13, and NCP-SP gaining one, bringing the total tally of the alliance to 17 seats.
The Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections, which consist of 288 seats, are scheduled for later this year. The Election Commission of India has yet to announce the official election dates.
