Malayalam Actor Siddique has recently filed a plea for anticipatory bail in the Supreme Court on Wednesday concerning an alleged rape incident involving a young actress in 2016.
In his plea, Siddique claimed he has no prior criminal history and expressed his willingness to cooperate with the investigation, arguing that his interrogation is unnecessary if taken into custody. The allegations against him involve the rape of the woman at the Mascot Hotel in Thiruvananthapuram in 2016.
This appeal came after the Kerala High Court rejected his anticipatory bail request on Tuesday, hence, prompting Siddique to go into hiding.
Later, he submitted his petition online through his advocate, Ranjeeta Rohatgi, which included a copy of the High Court’s ruling.
Additionally, the state government has filed a caveat in the Supreme Court, requesting that no decision be made without hearing its arguments. Additionally, the victim has also submitted a petition opposing Siddique’s bail.
Meanwhile, while rejecting Siddique’s bail plea, Justice C.S. Dias emphasized that prima facie evidence indicates his involvement based on circumstantial evidence. He also noted the seriousness of the complaint, categorizing it as a rape case, and ordered Siddique to undergo a potency test.
