Police have arrested a man for allegedly murdering his four-year-old stepson by subjecting him to severe physical torture in Thane city. The accused, identified as Dilshad, was taken into custody late Monday night and charged under section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), according to a police official.
The child’s mother had married Dilshad following her separation from her first husband. She recently brought her young son, Mohammad Aryan, from Kolkata to live with them in Thane. However, police reported that Dilshad was unaware of the child from his wife’s previous marriage until the boy arrived at their home.
This revelation caused significant tension between the couple, as Dilshad was unhappy with the child’s presence and refused to take responsibility for him, the police official stated.
Initially, the police registered a case of accidental death following the child’s demise on Sunday. However, the autopsy report indicated that the boy had suffered severe physical abuse, with multiple broken ribs and bones and internal injuries in his abdomen. This led to the registration of a murder case against Dilshad.
“After the child’s demise, the police on Sunday registered a case of accidental death. However, the autopsy report revealed that the child had been subjected to severe physical abuse. It also revealed that his rib and bones were broken at multiple points and there were internal injuries in his abdomen. Following this, a case of murder was registered,” said the police official.
The case is now under further investigation to gather more evidence and understand the full extent of the circumstances leading to the child’s death. The authorities are working to piece together the timeline of events and any potential motives behind the crime
