On Wednesday, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha commemorated the 107th birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, a prominent leader of the Bhartiya Jana Sangh. CM Saha reflected on Upadhyaya’s enduring philosophy and his vision for the socio-economic upliftment of all citizens.
In a heartfelt post on X, CM Saha expressed his admiration, stating, “My respectful obeisances to Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, the exponent of Antyodaya and Ekatma Humanism.” He emphasized the importance of spreading Upadhyaya’s philosophy to ensure the welfare of the most marginalized individuals in society.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid homage to Upadhyaya, recognizing his contributions as a “great nationalist thinker.” PM Modi highlighted Upadhyaya’s concept of Antyodaya, stating that it will play a crucial role in India’s aspirations for development.
Numerous other political figures participated in the tributes. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju engaged in a ‘Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign 2024’ at a park near the Pandit Deendayal Antyodaya Bhawan. In his tribute, Rijiju noted, “His vision of ‘Ekatma Manavvaad’ and ‘Antyodaya’ continues to guide us towards a society where every individual is empowered.”

BJP national president JP Nadda also paid floral tributes at the party headquarters in Delhi. Union Home Minister Amit Shah praised Upadhyaya as a proponent of “integral humanism” and a staunch advocate for transparency in politics.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath unveiled a statue of Upadhyaya during the celebrations, paying floral tribute and reminding attendees of Upadhyaya’s vision and hard work in shaping the nation. Adityanath urged the public to remember the leader’s focus on empowering the poor, farmers, and women, emphasizing his empathetic approach.
Reflecting on the significance of Upadhyaya’s teachings, Adityanath noted that his principles remain relevant, contributing to the progress observed in contemporary India. He remarked that Upadhyaya’s dedication to self-dependency and empathy towards all citizens played a crucial role during challenging times, such as the COVID-19 pandemic.
As leaders across the political spectrum pay their respects, the legacy of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya continues to inspire efforts toward a more inclusive and self-reliant India.
