The horrific viral video of women being paraded naked that emerged from Manipur on Thursday led to the arrest of four persons.

Four main accused have been arrested in the Viral Video Case. Additionally, three more main accused involved in the heinous crime of abduction and gang rape, under Nongpok Sekmai PS in Thoubal District, have been apprehended today. The total number of individuals arrested in connection with this case has now reached four.

“Four main accused arrested in the Viral Video Case: 03 (three) more main accused of the heinous crime of abduction and gangrape under Nongpok Sekmai PS, Thoubal District have been arrested today. So a total 04 (four) persons have been arrested till now,” the Manipur police announced on its social media handle.

Additionally, the state police and central forces are conducting searches and inspections at nakas.

“Search Operations and Checking at Nakas: State Police and Central forces continue to conduct search operations in the vulnerable and fringe areas of both valley and hill districts. 02 (two) arms with 05 (five) ammunitions were recovered in Imphal East District,” the Tweet by Manipur police read.

Manipur Police set up checkpoints, detain 657 people for various violations

A total of 129 nakas and checkpoints have been constructed in various districts of Manipur in response to violations, and 657 people have been arrested as a result of offences.

“A total of 129 Nakas/ Checkpoints were installed in different Districts of Manipur, both in the hill and the valley and Police detained 657 persons in connection with violations in different districts of the State,” the state police informed.

“Movement of 464 (four hundred sixty-eight) vehicles on NH-37 and 138 (one hundred thirty-eight) vehicles on NH-2 with essential items have been ensured. Strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations and a security convoy is provided in sensitive stretches in order to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles,” the statement read.

Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey vehemently denounced the viral video depicting the deplorable act of women being paraded naked and allegedly sexually assaulted. She has issued a directive to the Director General of Police (DGP) to swiftly take action and ensure the perpetrators of this abhorrent crime are brought to justice and given exemplary punishment in accordance with the law.

CM Biren Singh promises capital punishment to the Manipur Viral Video culprits

Amidst widespread public outrage across the country concerning the shocking incident in Manipur, Chief Minister N Biren Singh made an announcement stating that two individuals, including the main perpetrator, have been arrested. He reiterated his government’s unwavering commitment to pursue the death penalty for the accused and vowed to leave no stone unturned in this regard.

“One was arrested yesterday and recently I got information that another one has also been arrested now. The interrogation is going on. The state police have arrested the suspected main culprit and those who involve have also been arrested and will be booked as per the law,” Manipur Chief Minister said.
