In his 112th ‘Mann Ki Baat’ broadcast, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged the nation to rally behind the athletes representing India at the upcoming Paris Olympics. Expressing his pride and hope, PM Modi emphasized the importance of national support for these athletes as they strive to make the country proud on the global stage. “The Paris Olympics are capturing global attention,” he said. “Our athletes have the opportunity to let our tricolour wave at the world level. Encourage them and cheer for Bharat!”
Earlier on social media platform X, PM Modi shared his enthusiasm about receiving numerous inputs for this month’s program, particularly from young people passionate about societal transformation.
During the broadcast, PM Modi highlighted the remarkable growth of Khadi Village Industries, with their turnover surpassing ₹1.5 lakh crore for the first time. Khadi sales have increased by an impressive 400%, creating numerous new employment opportunities. PM Modi noted that women, who make up the majority of workers in this industry, are the primary beneficiaries of this surge.
In a significant step towards combating drug abuse, PM Modi introduced ‘Manas’, a new helpline and portal dedicated to drug rehabilitation. The government has launched a toll-free number, 1933, providing access to necessary advice and information related to rehabilitation. “This initiative marks a major step in the fight against drugs,” PM Modi stated.
PM Modi also shared the inspiring story of the Unnati Self-Help Group in Rohtak district, Haryana. Over 250 women, who were previously engaged in small-scale work, have transformed their lives through training in block printing and dyeing. “These colors have brought prosperity to their lives,” PM Modi remarked, highlighting the group’s success.
PM Modi announced that Charaideo Maidam in Assam has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites list, making it India’s 43rd site and the first from the Northeast. “Charaideo, meaning ‘a shining city on the hills,’ was the first capital of the Ahom dynasty. This recognition will boost tourism and highlight the rich cultural heritage of the region,” PM Modi said.
Emphasizing the importance of cultural pride, PM Modi introduced Project Pari (Public Art of India), which aims to enhance public art across the nation. He encouraged art enthusiasts to contribute to this initiative, citing the impressive artworks at Bharat Mandapam in Delhi as an example.
PM Modi celebrated India’s top five finish at the 2024 International Mathematics Olympiad held in Bath, United Kingdom. The six-member Indian team won four gold medals and one silver, competing against participants from over 100 countries. “Our team’s success is a matter of immense joy and pride,” PM Modi said, congratulating the young mathematicians for their outstanding performance.
In a show of support, BJP chief JP Nadda joined party workers at the headquarters to listen to the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ episode, reinforcing the importance of the Prime Minister’s messages to the nation.
