A fire incident occurred at Delhi’s renowned Azadpur vegetable market, locally known as the Azadpur Mandi, as reported by an official on Friday. The fire started around 5:15 pm, prompting the immediate dispatch of 11 fire tenders in response to a distress call. Fortunately, there have been no reported casualties in this incident.
Efforts to control the fire were successful, and the cooling process was in progress at the time of reporting. Preliminary indications suggest that the fire originated in a pile of garbage behind a tomato vendor’s stall at the Azadpur Mandi, rapidly spreading from there. Further details regarding the incident are pending.
Situated in North Delhi, this market is recognized as the largest of its kind in Asia. On the same day, a separate substantial fire incident occurred at a chemical warehouse in Ghaziabad’s Kotwali Ghantaghar area, although it also resulted in no casualties.
