‘Media, Today, Is One With Prime Minister Modi’ Says Pawan Khera | India News Manch

India News’ Manch, a platform for high-level discussions on the major issues of the present day, ranging from the new budget introduced by the newly formed NDA government to the recent issues that the country is faced with to the plans for the future, of the Viksit Bharat of 2047, with the political elites of the country, brings for you an integral session with Pawan Khera, Chairman, Media & Publicity AICC, and a well known politician from the Congress Party. The session is moderated by Ms. Priya Sahgal, editorial director, NewsX.

“He won and yet, he lost”

Praising Pawan Khera for being the most articualte face, especially during the elections, where he had put up a very good defence, and the party had garnered a good number Ms Priya Sahgal opened the session with a question regarding how the opposition had been behaving in the parliament and treated the Bharatiya Janata Party members during the parliamentary sessions, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “The government has received a mandate to govern after returning to power, yet the way you are managing this mandate, coupled with the opposition’s conduct in Parliament, raises questions. Do you acknowledge the opposition’s mandate, considering you often prevent them from speaking and frequently oppose their actions?” Sahgal pointed out.

Pawan Khera, in response, stated that the Congress had accepted the mandate but it was the Prime Minister who hadn’t. “He won and yet, in a way, he lost but we won despite our loss in the elections.” He added that the country’s leadership was entirely changed by this year’s General Assembly elections and that even though the Prime Minister has been re-elected at the post it is Rahul Gandhi who rules the hearts of the people of this country and this is unchangeable and needs to be accepted by PM Modi.

“Crossing 400 is only possible in Prime Minister Modi’s dreams”

Priya took the opportunity to counter question the opposition’s idea of win in this particular scenario as she stated that it wasn’t an absolute win. “Even though congress had done a good marketing, the BJP still got a 100% mandate to return to power, so this is the third time that they came to power and you couldn’t stop them, so how is this a win for you?”she asked as she mentioned that bar for Congress was very low which was probaly why they called it a win.

Pawan Khera stated that when the BJP had two seats, it didn’t shoot up to a 200 straight away, it increased only gradually, which is the same for the opposition. “If you think from 52 seats we can directly cross 400 seats, that is only possible in Prime Minister Modi’s dreams,” we cannot,” he said as he recalled Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra where Gandhi walked for 4000 kms on foot, to connect with the people of the nation.

Further, Priya Sahgal pointed out the behaviour of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in the Parliament in contrary to PM Modi’s conduct in the house. she questioned the oppositions tradition of not letting PM Modi speak during the parliamentary sessions to which Khera mocked that the country has been listening to the Prime Minister for the last ten years, but he has never spoken about what the general people feel and the issues that the people of the country want to talk about or voice out. He added that the Prime Minister had only been talking about what the previous leaders did and didn’t do for the past ten years which didn’t prove to be fruitful to the present day situation of the country. He further asked the Prime Minister to rather respond to the grave crises like the NEET paper leak, the Agniveer scheme, the Manipur crisis and several others.

“People wanted to break Prime Minster’s ego”

Priya Sahgal then, mentioned that even though the Congress leader stated that Rahul Gandhi was ruling the hearts of the citizens of India, but the people had still given their votes to the Bharatiya Janata Party and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in large numbers. “This suggests that the public aligns with his views, as evidenced by the 264 people who have shown their agreement.”

Pawan Khera countered as he stated that the people of the country only wanted to break the Prime Minster’s ego because he had begun to think that he was the king of the country. He further stated that everytime the opposition leader questions the Prime Minister on certain issues, that is when the PM Modi strategises to find the solution to that problem and which is why Prime Minister Modi can rightfully be called the manager of the country while Rahul Gandhi has been emerging as the leader of the nation. He also added that even though the Prime Minister was responding to issues like the Agnibeer scheme, the NEET paper leak crisis but the people of the country , the affected people and the opposition was not satisfied with his responses. His responses had only resulted in the banning of books like the book on Agniveers by former Army Chief  and rewriting the history of the country which is unacceptable.

He additionally claimed that the Opposition was fighting for the youth of the country, the agniveers who according to the scheme would have to retire after four years without the same pension. He also added that there are two attacks taking place in the country in the moment, on the security of the nation as well as on the future of the Youth of the country.

“Media, today is one with Prime Minister Modi”

Pawan Khera, while concluding, expressed his disappointment with the media of the country which he believes that in the present scenario has become the spokesperson for the Bharatiya Janata Party and Prime Minister Modi, despite that it is an integral part of democracy. “Media, today is one with Prime Minister Modi. It is very important for the democracy of the nation and the media needs to understand that.”

In conclusion Priya Sahgal asked how the Opposition was planning to maintain the communication if it didn’t let the Prime Minister speak during the parliamentary sessions and if it boycotted media as well to which he responded that the Opposition is not upset with the media or boycotting it, it is just practicing civil disobedience which is a fundamental right for every citizen of the nation and cannot be taken away.
