The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Finland, Elina Valtonen, is scheduled to arrive in New Delhi on Wednesday for a two-day visit to India, as per an official statement. During her stay, she will partake in the Raisina Dialogue 2024 and have a working lunch with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, alongside the Nordic and Baltic ministers. Discussions will focus on the current state of bilateral relations, potential areas for future collaboration, and pertinent international issues, as stated by Finland’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
While at the Raisina Dialogue, Minister Valtonen is set to join a high-level panel discussion on Arctic cooperation and participate in a debate on security policy. The visiting ministers, including Valtonen, will also have a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
This year marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Finland and India, and the purpose of the visit is to enhance bilateral ties, emphasize foreign and security policy concerns significant to Finland, and contribute to the global discourse on foreign and security policy during the Raisina Dialogue. The Raisina Dialogue, an annual event hosted by the Indian Observer Research Foundation (ORF) and the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, serves as a platform for heads of state, ministers, businesses, the media, and academia to engage in discussions about the global state of affairs and explore opportunities for collaboration.
