Nuh court reserves order on MLA Mamman Khan’s bail plea in Nuh violence case

Mamman Khan, a Haryana Congress MLA who is now being held in custody in connection with the incident on July 31 in Nuh, filed a petition for bail. The Nuh District Court has postponed making a decision on that appeal till Saturday evening.
Arguments between the two parties today lasted for more than 30 minutes and were brought on by Mamman Khan’s attorney’s bail application.
Sandeep Duggal, Additional District and Sessions Judge, presided over the hearing in Court No. 2.

The court reserved its decision till 4 pm today.

Khan, a Ferozepur Jhirka MLA who was detained on September 15 in connection with the ethnic clashes in Nuh and other parts of the state, was sentenced to 14 days in judicial custody on September 19. After a prior two-day remand was completed, the Nuh district court earlier on September 17 sentenced Khan to another two days of police detention.

According to reports, police detained Khan at the home of a relative on the Jaipur–Ajmer road and took him to Nuh.
On July 31 of this year, violence broke out in Nuh during a demonstration by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad. A mosque in nearby Gurugram was attacked, resulting in six fatalities as well as the death of a priest.
The Ferozepur Jhirka MLA filed a court petition on September 12 asking for protection from arrest and asserting that he was being falsely implicated in the case because he was not in Nuh on the day that the unrest started.
