Modi Advocates Farm Sector Reforms In Independence Day Address: ‘India Can Become Organic Food Basket Of World’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday called for significant reforms in the agricultural sector during the 78th Independence Day celebrations, highlighting efforts to improve the lives of farmers in the country.

Encouraging Organic Farming and Modernization

Delivering his customary address from the ramparts of the Red Fort, PM Modi praised farmers for adopting organic farming and expressed confidence that India can become the world’s organic food basket as it strives towards the goal of Viksit Bharat.

“We need to reform the farm sector. Today we are giving easy loans, tech, and valuation of produce. Today when everyone is concerned about the earth, we are grateful to farmers for choosing organic farming which we have made provisions for in the budget,” the Prime Minister said.

“Organic food is a need. We can become the organic food basket of the world. We must strive to make the lives of farmers better,” he added.

Highlighting Progress and Infrastructure Development

The Prime Minister also emphasized the advancements in infrastructure and improvements in ‘ease of living.’ He noted that these developments have accelerated progress in India.

“With new opportunities arising in India, I can confidently say that two key developments have accelerated our progress – the creation of modern infrastructure and ‘ease of living’. We have made significant strides in upgrading our infrastructure and have placed equal emphasis on making life easier for everyone,” the Prime Minister said.

Impact of Reforms on Youth and National Confidence

PM Modi discussed the reforms implemented over the past decade, which have boosted the self-confidence of the youth and their ambition to achieve significant milestones. He reflected on the previous status quo and the necessity of breaking it.

“People waited for reforms, we got an opportunity and we implemented major reforms. Our commitment to reform is not restricted to editorials, our reforms are not for small praise it is for making the country strong. This has resulted in a rise in self-confidence. There are now many avenues open for our youngsters. The youth now does not want to walk slowly they want to jump to achieve new things, and they want to take giant leaps. This is a golden era for India,” PM Modi said.

“We should not let this opportunity go. We will then achieve the goals of Viksit Bharat by 2047,” he added.

Vision for a Developed India by 2047

The Prime Minister urged the nation to aim for a developed India by 2047, drawing inspiration from the courage and dedication of 40 crore Indians who fought against colonial rule.

“Before independence, 40 crore Indians showed courage, dedication and bravery and moved with one motto, and broke the shackles of colonial rule despite all adversaries. Their only goal was freedom. If 40 crore Indians could do this, then 140 crore Indians of my family and do wonders if they take one pledge then despite all challenges we can make a Viksit Bharat by 2047,” PM Modi said.

“Now is the time to live for Viksit Bharat 2047 and Indians are determined. We have to become Atmabirbhar in every field. It is the determination of the Indians that is driving my resolve. India can become a developed nation by 2047. There was a time when people had a do-or-die attitude and we got freedom and now we must have the strength to live for the nation that can make a strong India,” he said.

Warm Welcome and Historical Milestone

Earlier today, PM Modi was warmly received by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and other dignitaries as he arrived for the Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort. The Prime Minister was seen in a white kurta and blue vest, complemented by a traditional multicolour safa.

This year’s celebration marks the 11th occasion PM Modi has addressed the nation from the Red Fort on Independence Day, making him the third Prime Minister after Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi to achieve this milestone. The theme for this year’s Independence Day is ‘Viksit Bharat @ 2047,’ focusing on the Government’s efforts to transform India into a developed nation by 2047.
