Prime Minister Narendra Modi issued New Year’s wishes on Sunday, wishing for a year filled with hope, happiness, and plenty of success.

In a tweet, the Prime Minister stated “Have a wonderful 2023! May it be full of optimism, pleasure, and plenty of success. May everyone be blessed with excellent health.” On the first day of the New Year, people flocked to temples around the country to worship.

In the early hours of Sunday, a ‘Ganga aarti’ was conducted at Varanasi’s Assi Ghat. People flocked to the ghat to see the Ganga aarti.

Today worshippers gathered at Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain to witness morning aarti.

Lord Shiva’s ‘Bhasma aarti’ was conducted in the early morning hours at the Mahakaleshwar Temple.

The Bhasma Aarti performed by Mahakaleshwar is seen to be the most remarkable since it is the only ‘Jyotirling’ among the 12 where the Bhasma is applied to the ‘Shivling’.

According to the Mahakaleshwar priest, this is one of the reasons why people travel from all over the world to attend.

Meanwhile, morning prayers were held at Mumbai’s famous Siddhivinayak Temple. The first day of the new year, devotees flocked to Siddhivinayak Temple to witness the morning aarti.
