Mumbai: Former cricketer Vinod Kambli booked for assaulting wife

According to police, a case has been filed against former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli for reportedly beating and punching his wife at the couple’s flat in Mumbai’s suburban Bandra. The case was opened after his wife Andrea filed a complaint stating that Kambli, while inebriated, flung the handle of a cooking pan at her, causing her to suffer a head injury, according to a Bandra police station officer. According to the police officer, the incident occurred between 1 and 1:30 p.m. on Friday.

Kambli’s wife sought treatment at Bhabha Hospital prior to approaching the police, he added. On the basis of Kambli’s wife’s statement, the complaint was registered under Sections 324 and 504 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). According to authorities, investigations are ongoing, but no arrests have been made.
