On October 5, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate a series of significant infrastructure projects across the state, with an estimated value exceeding ₹50,000 crore.
At the forefront of these developments is the inauguration of the much-awaited Mumbai Metro Line-3 (Phase I). The Prime Minister will officially open the 12.7 km Aarey-JVLR to Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) section.
This portion of the metro line, developed at a cost of around ₹14,120 crore, includes 10 stations, of which 9 are underground. The fully operational Mumbai Metro Line-3 is expected to cater to nearly 12 lakh passengers daily, significantly easing the city’s commuting woes.
PM Modi will flag off a metro train from BKC and take a ride to Santacruz Metro Station. During his journey, he will interact with students, beneficiaries of the “Ladki Bahin” initiative, and laborers who contributed to the metro’s construction. Additionally, the Prime Minister will launch the “MetroConnect3” mobile application, designed to facilitate seamless travel for metro commuters.
In Washim, PM Modi will inaugurate ‘five solar parks’ with a combined capacity of 19 MW, enhancing Maharashtra’s green energy footprint.
Moreover, Modi will disburse the ‘18th instalment of the PM-KISAN Samman Nidhi’, benefiting around 9.4 crore farmers across India. The ₹20,000 crore instalment will provide much-needed financial assistance to farmers, helping them sustain their livelihoods.
The Prime Minister will also launch the ‘5th instalment of the NaMo Shetkari Mahasanman Nidhi Yojana’, disbursing about ₹2,000 crore to farmers in Maharashtra.
Additionally, around 7,500 projects under the ‘Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF)’, worth ₹1,920 crore, will be initiated, supporting the state’s agricultural sector.
In Thane, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone of the ‘Thane Integral Ring Metro Rail Project’. This ₹12,200 crore project will span 29 km, featuring 20 elevated and 2 underground stations. Once completed, this metro line will address the transportation needs of the rapidly growing population of Thane and strengthen the city’s industrial and commercial significance.
The PM will also lay the foundation for the ‘Thane Municipal Corporation’s (TMC) new administrative building’, estimated at ₹750 crore. This high-rise building will house multiple civic services, providing citizens easy access to administrative services in a centralised location.
Another significant project is the ‘Navi Mumbai Airport Influence Notified Area (NAINA) Phase 1’. The ₹2,550 crore project will lay the foundation for roads, bridges, and integrated infrastructure in Navi Mumbai, boosting the region’s development as a future business and residential hub.
Lastly, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for the ‘extension of the Eastern Freeway’. This ₹3,310 crore project aims to connect Chheda Nagar in Mumbai with Anand Nagar in Thane, reducing travel time and providing seamless connectivity between South Mumbai and Thane.
