New Delhi: Muslim world league chief Mohammad Bin Abdulkarim al-Issa, who is on a 6-day visit to India, said that the “Muslim component” of India are proud of their Constitution, nation, and brotherhood that they share with other community.
The former justice minister of Saudi Arabia, regarded as one of the world’s foremost experts on moderate Islam, said on Tuesday that India, with its variety, is a “great model of coexistence” and that the nation can spread peace worldwide.
“We talked just moments ago about the different components of Indian society, and we have engaged with them in the past few days. And I know that the Muslim component of the Indian society is, as I said, proud of their Constitution and proud of their nation, and they are proud of the brotherhood that they share with the rest of the components of the Indian society,” al-Issa said in the national capital on Tuesday.
Al-Issa, a former Saudi justice minister, is currently in charge of the Intellectual Warfare Center, a department of the Saudi defense ministry tasked with battling extremist and terrorist ideology. People who know the situation indicated that he is likely to speak on religious tolerance, interfaith dialogue, and preventing radicalization.
It Is believed that Al-Issa’s five-day travel to India starting on July 10 is a part of the Indian government’s ongoing outreach to critical religious leaders from the Islamic world. Al-Issa is also anticipated to meet with Smriti Irani, the minister for minority affairs, and S Jaishankar, the minister for external attend Friday prayers at the Jama Masjid and visit the Akshardham shrine as part of his obligations in New Delhi.
