Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal expressed his unwavering dedication to the country, stating that his commitment remains unchanged whether he is in or out of jail. This statement came during his appearance at the Rouse Avenue Court, responding to a query.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) sought a 10-day remand for Kejriwal following his arrest on Thursday for his alleged involvement in irregularities related to the 2021-22 Delhi excise policy, which has since been scrapped. His arrest followed the Delhi High Court’s rejection of his plea for interim protection.
Kejriwal’s arrest led to protests, with Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj, detained during the protests, alleging that Kejriwal’s family was placed under house arrest. He mentioned concerns about Kejriwal’s mother’s health and restrictions on family members meeting anyone.
Bharadwaj criticized the restriction of peaceful protests and party workers’ participation, labeling it as dictatorial and aimed at gaining advantage in the upcoming Lok Sabha election. He emphasized that people would continue to protest, and attempts to suppress the movement would be futile.
