The country’s first regional train, recently renamed Namo Bharat, has now made ticket booking more accessible by partnering with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). With this new arrangement, passengers can book tickets for Namo Bharat trains directly through the IRCTC platform, eliminating the need to stand in long queues and simplifying the travel process.
Agreement Enhances Passenger Experience
This initiative is a result of a collaborative agreement between the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) and IRCTC, aimed at enhancing the overall travel experience for passengers on the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor. Under the ‘One India-One Ticket’ initiative, this agreement ensures that passengers can easily book their tickets and enjoy a seamless journey. The ticket purchased through this platform will be valid for four days around the travel date, offering flexibility and convenience to travelers.
The RRTS project, managed by NCRTC, is designed to provide a high-speed and comfortable passenger service, connecting regional centers within the National Capital Region (NCR). Currently, the Namo Bharat train operates on the Sahibabad-Modinagar North section, with ongoing work to extend the service to other cities connected to Delhi. The primary objective of this agreement is to provide passengers with a fast and comfortable travel experience, making it easier for them to utilize both Indian Railways and RRTS services seamlessly.
Ticket Pricing, Tax, and Refund Process
Passengers can now find Namo Bharat train tickets available on the IRCTC platform, where they will be subject to a nominal IRCTC convenience fee of ₹5 plus applicable taxes. These tickets can be booked easily through various online payment methods, such as UPI, net banking, or Paytm. In the event of a ticket cancellation, users will receive a full refund of the RRTS fare. However, the IRCTC convenience fee, payment gateway charges, and related taxes will not be refundable.
Easy Booking and Station Entry
Once booked, passengers can effortlessly enter the station and travel by scanning their RRTS QR code at the station entrance, using either the Electronic Reservation Slip (ERS) or the mobile app. The integration with the IRCTC platform is designed to make booking Namo Bharat train tickets as easy as possible. Additionally, after booking a train ticket, users will receive a notification to book an RRTS ticket if there is a nearby RRTS station, further streamlining the travel process.
This partnership between NCRTC and IRCTC marks a significant step forward in improving the ease and convenience of train travel for passengers, making the Namo Bharat train service more accessible and user-friendly. As the RRTS network expands, this initiative will play a crucial role in ensuring that passengers experience a smooth and hassle-free journey across the NCR region.
