Devastating Fire Ravages 68 Homes In J&K’s Mulwarwan

A catastrophic fire swept through the J&K’s remote village of Mulwarwan in the Warwan tehsil, causing extensive damage to approximately 68 houses and destroying numerous household items. The fire erupted in the afternoon and quickly spread.

Fire services from Kokernag and Anantnag were immediately dispatched to tackle the inferno. Local administration officials and community members also rallied to help extinguish the blaze. Fortunately, there have been no reports of casualties as a result of this devastating incident. However, visuals from the scene show plumes of smoke rising from the charred remains of the affected houses.

In response to the alarming situation, Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Kumar Shavan arrived at the scene to oversee the ongoing rescue and relief efforts. “Our teams are on the ground, working diligently to manage the crisis and support those affected,” said DC Shavan.

Relief Efforts Underway

The Deputy Commissioner confirmed that the Divisional Administration office had been notified of the incident, prompting immediate action to provide essential relief to the fire-stricken families.

Under his direction, significant relief supplies have been dispatched to assist those in need. This aid includes 40 mattresses, 40 bed sheets, 40 pillows, 40 buckets, 48 jugs, 40 soap cases, 40 water coolers, 40 blankets, 150 glasses, 25 kitchen sets, and 35 tents.

Moreover, the Deputy Commissioner has allocated an immediate relief fund of ₹5 lakh from the Red Cross to support the affected families during this challenging time. “We are committed to ensuring that all affected families receive the assistance they need to recover from this tragedy,” he added.

The fire has left many residents of Mulwarwan, a serene mountainous hamlet, grappling with the loss of their homes and belongings. As recovery efforts continue, the focus remains on providing immediate relief to those impacted by this devastating fire.
