Nationwide Security Tightened Ahead Of Independence Day Celebrations

Ahead of Independence Day celebrations, security has been heightened across the country. As Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to hoist the Tricolour at the Red Fort and address the nation on Thursday, Delhi Police have deployed personnel around the Red Fort, with bomb disposal teams conducting checks in the vicinity using sniffer dogs.

The Delhi Police have also been utilizing artificial intelligence, with numerous CCTV cameras installed. Special cameras have been mounted on the Door Frame Metal Detectors (DFMD), which are connected to a facial recognition system to monitor invitees attending the Independence Day event at the Red Fort.

Delhi Police, in collaboration with Border Security Force personnel, have been patrolling the Yamuna, with raids being monitored using binoculars from the river.

Security arrangements have also been tightened across Punjab. “It is the duty of the police; during such occasions, we have to be on our toes. Bathinda Police is taking security measures daily,” said Bathinda SSP Amneet Kondal, noting that Bathinda Police conducted a flag march in sensitive areas.

In Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba, security has been bolstered ahead of the 78th Independence Day. Security forces have set up a special Naka on the Batote-Doda highway as part of a joint operation by the Indian Army and J&K Police in Akar Forest near Patnitop. Contact has been established with the terrorists, and operations are ongoing.

In Mumbai, security has been intensified, with police checking vehicles across the city.

Uttar Pradesh Police have also deployed personnel in all sensitive areas. “Given the Independence Day celebrations, security has been tightened. Police forces have been deployed in all sensitive areas, and suspicious vehicles are being checked,” said ADCP Noida Manish Mishra.
