NIA arrests two more terror operatives in Shivamogga ISIS conspiracy case

On Wednesday, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) announced the arrest of two terror operators in connection with the Shivamogga ISIS plot case.

The operatives, identified as Mazin Abdul Rahman and Nadeem Ahmed KA, were apprehended in connection with a plot developed by the accused to enhance Islamic State (IS) terror activities in India. Four additional suspects were detained earlier in the investigation.

The case was first recorded at Shivamogga Rural Police Station in Karnataka’s Shivamogga district on September 19, last year, and was re-registered by the NIA on November 4, last year.

Maaz Muneer, the accused, radicalised and recruited Mazin, a native of Mangaluru in the Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka, according to NIA findings.

Syed Yasin, another accused, radicalised and recruited Nadeem, who is from Davanagere in Karnataka. According to the NIA, both were radicalised and recruited to promote the Islamic State’s terror efforts in India.

“The accused people investigated and attempted or performed acts of sabotage and arson as part of a bigger plan to enhance the activities of the Islamic State,” the elite anti-terror investigation agency stated.
