NIA Conducts Raids in Punjab, Haryana, Targeting Banned Terror Group KTF

The raids were conducted in multiple locations in Punjab and Haryana, unveiling criminal conspiracy to fundraise and smuggle arms and explosives for KTF.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) recently conducted raids at 10 locations in Punjab and
Haryana as part of an investigation connected to the banned terrorist organization Khalistan
Tiger Force (KTF). Reports suggest that the raids targeted nine places in Punjab and one in Haryana, with the aim of uncovering a criminal plot involving fundraising for the banned terrorist group and the smuggling of arms, ammunition, and explosives from across the border.

The NIA had previously initiated a case in August 2022 under relevant sections of the Indian
Penal Code and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967. On May 19 of this year, two
close associates of Arsh Dhalla, a Canada-based listed terrorist, were arrested by the NIA at
Delhi Airport (IGIA) upon their arrival from Manila, Philippines, where they had been residing.

The arrested individuals, identified as Amritpal Singh alias Ammy and Amritk Singh from Punjab,
were arrested in an early morning operation by the NIA team stationed at the airport. The NIA
had previously obtained non-bailable arrest warrants against the accused issued by the NIA
Delhi Court in relation to their involvement in unlawful and violent activities carried out by
banned organizations in India. The accused individuals have multiple criminal cases registered
against them in Punjab.

According to the NIA’s investigations, the arrested individuals had been working on behalf of
designated terrorist Arshdeep Singh Dhalla to promote violent criminal activities of the KTF
within India. In collaboration with another wanted accused named Manpreet Singh alias Peeta,
the NIA stated that the two arrested individuals were engaged in arms smuggling from Pakistan
and the recruitment of young individuals to carry out violent and terror-related acts in the country
on behalf of the KTF.

These arrests form part of the NIA’s ongoing efforts to crack down on individual terrorists and
terrorist groups involved in conspiracies to smuggle terrorist materials, including arms,
ammunition, and explosives, while also raising funds to carry out acts of terrorism within India.
