NIA raids at multiple locations in Kashmir in a terror-related case

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday carried out raids at several places in Jammu and Kashmir in connection with a terror-related case, officials said.

The raids were conducted in the Baramulla, Pulwama and Shopian districts of the Kashmir valley, they said. The Jammu and Kashmir police and CRPF members were present during the raids, in addition to the NIA detectives. The raids, according to officials, are a component of the federal agency’s investigation into a case involving terrorism.

In a case involving the criminal conspiracy to carry out terrorist and subversive activities hatched by the cadres and Overground Workers (OGWs) of various proscribed organizations and their affiliates or offshoots operating under various pseudonyms at the direction of their Pakistani commands and handlers, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted searches at five locations in July 20.

According to sources, the searches against recently launched offshoots of outlawed, Pakistan-supported terrorist groups active in J&K are still ongoing.

The residences of hybrid terrorists and OGWs connected to recently created offshoots and affiliates of multiple proscribed Kashmiri terrorist organizations are the targets of the NIA’s raids. Raids are also conducted on the homes of sympathizers and cadre members of these organizations.

The NIA suspects their involvement in the collection and distribution of sticky bombs, magnetic bombs, Improvised Explosive Devices, funds, narcotic substances and arms and ammunition.
Three valley districts—Anantnag, Shopian, and Pulwama—were among the locations previously searched by the NIA. Several digital devices that had a vast amount of damning material were seized as a result.

The Resistance Front (TRF), United Liberation Front Jammu & Kashmir (ULFJ&K), Mujahideen Gazwat-ul-Hind (MGH), Jammu & Kashmir Freedom Fighters (JKFF), Kashmir Tigers, PAAF, and other recently formed organizations are among those whose sympathizers and cadres have had their homes searched.
