‘Oppn should look at their own tenure’, says Nirmala Sitharaman after casting her vote in K’taka

Union Fin Min Nirmala Sitharaman said that the public should not be burdened by inflation, however the Opposition has no right to speak on this issue.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who was among the early voters on Wednesday to cast her vote at a polling booth in Bengaluru, said that the public should not be burdened by inflation, however the Opposition has no right to speak on this issue.

“On inflation, I am with the public that yes, there should not be a burden on them but the Opposition has no right (to speak on it). They should look at their own tenure,” Nirmala Sitharaman said while talking to reporters after casting her vote here in the Karnataka Assembly elections. The union minister also termed the Congress promise of banning the Bajrang Dal as “an example of stupidity”.

Congress reads Hanuman Chalisa during elections only: Nirmala Sitharaman

“We always read Hanuman Chalisa and offer prayers to Bajrang Bali, but they (Congress) do this during the election. They mentioned that in their manifesto, this is an example of stupidity,” Nirmala Sitharaman said.

The issue of Bajrang Dal took centre stage during political campaigning for the State elections.
The Congress party stated in its manifesto last week that it will take “decisive action” in accordance with the law, including banning organisations such as the Bajrang Dal, the Popular Front of India, and others.
Meanwhile, voting began today at 7 a.m. for 224 assembly constituencies in Karnataka, where 2,615 candidates are running.

The majority threshold for forming a government is 113 seats. Polling is scheduled at 58,545 polling places, including auxiliary polling places. 42,48,028 new voters have registered to vote in the assembly elections. Tomorrow, 5.3 crore general voters will cast ballots at 58,545 polling stations in 37,777 locations.
