Cold wave: Minimum temperature reaches 1.5 degrees in Delhi ridge area

As the cold wave conditions continue to grip northern India, the National Capital Territory of Delhi recorded a low temperature of 1.5 degrees on Saturday in the Delhi ridge area. There is heavy fog in several areas of Delhi.

Images from RK Puram demonstrate how the dense fog has made it difficult to see in the capital. A mild to severe cold wave was experienced in portions of Delhi, Chandigarh, and Haryana today.

East Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan, and scattered pockets across West Rajasthan and East Madhya Pradesh were also affected by the cold wave.

Extreme cold wave is also being felt in large portions of East Madhya Pradesh, West Uttar Pradesh, and isolated areas across Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Bihar, and West Madhya Pradesh.

Over 12 arriving planes from various places were delayed at the airport, according to the Indira Gandhi International Airport, as a result of the intense fog and poor visibility.

Due to poor visibility and the bad weather, not just aircraft but as many as 32 long-distance trains are operating seven or more hours behind schedule.

The lowest recorded temperature was 0 degrees Celsius at Bikaner, Rajasthan, with numerous locations in the northern belt seeing minimum temperatures that were nearly at the freezing mark.
