Odisha tragedy: Following the triple train clash in Balasore on June 2, there has been a morgue crunch in the state as a large number of unclaimed bodies have piled up in mortuaries, reports PTI. The deadly accident killed over 288 people and injured 1,000 passengers. The Odisha government has shifted 187 of them to Bhubaneswar from Balasore, further reported the news agency.

110 bodies were reportedly kept at AIIMS in Bhubaneswar while the remaining have been sent to Capital Hospital, Amri Hospital, Sum Hospital and other private facilities.

An official of AIIMS Bhubaneswar shared with PTI the struggles and said that it is a real challenge for them to preserve the bodies as they have the facility to keep a maximum of 40 bodies. Meanwhile, the AIIMS authorities have procured coffins, ice and formalin chemicals to preserve the bodies till they are identified.

On the other hand, the Odisha government has requested people to the next of kin to identify and claim the bodies of the deceased in the train collision incident in Balasore. As per the government statement, details on the same can be found on the website: https://srcodisha.nic.in/
