On Sunday, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, and Cabinet Minister Dharmendra Pradhan paid a visit to the injured victims of the triple train accident in Cuttack.
The injured passengers were met by Union ministers at the Srirama Chandra Bhanja Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, according to officials. According to officials, the ministers also met with doctors from AIIMS Bhubaneswar and SCB Medical College and Hospital.
Earlier on Sunday, Railway Minister Vaishnaw arrived at the district hospital with fellow Union cabinet colleague Dharmendra Pradhan to check on the injured.
The accident, which involved two passenger trains and one goods train in the Balasore district, claimed 275 lives and injured over 1,000 people.
The Union ministers were seen consoling the injured and their family members during their visit to the hospital. Vaishnaw went on to say that the doctors were treating the victims properly.
He added that railway tracks on the up and down lines, which were damaged in the triple train tragedy, have been restored for the resumption of services.
“We met patients nursing injuries at Bhadrak hospital. Almost all patients are in contact with their famlies. The doctors and staff are providing proper treatment to the injured. Track restoration work has been completed,” Vaishnaw told reporters.
Earlier, taking to Twitter, Vaishnaw informed that the down line had been restored for resumption of service.
