Watch: Bihar Man Brings Russell’s Viper Snake To Hospital After Being Bitten

In an unusual incident that unfolded on Tuesday night at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College & Hospital in Bhagalpur, a man named Prakash Mandal, 48, arrived at the facility with a Russell’s Viper snake in tow after suffering a bite from the dangerous reptile.

Prakash, a resident of Mirachak, experienced the snake bite while relaxing at home on Tuesday evening. In an unexpected turn of events, rather than seeking immediate medical assistance without the snake, he opted to catch the creature and transport it directly to the hospital. Accompanying him were concerned family members, adding to the surreal nature of the situation.

Confusion At The Hospital

Upon arrival at the hospital, the sight of a snake in Prakash’s grasp left medical staff bewildered. Demonstrating remarkable resolve, Prakash held the snake’s mouth shut while he lay on a stretcher, preparing to enter the hospital ward. Doctors quickly assessed the situation, providing him with an injection after evaluating both Prakash and the snake. Meanwhile, his family secured the snake in a sack to ensure safety within the hospital premises.

Veeramani, the health manager at the hospital, confirmed that Prakash is currently receiving treatment, and the snake has been safely contained. Additionally, officials from the forest department have been notified to handle the viper appropriately.

A Tragic Coincidence

This incident comes on the heels of another unrelated tragedy in Chhattisgarh, where a 22-year-old man lost his life due to a venomous snake bite. In a disturbing response, local residents chose to burn the snake alive on the man’s funeral pyre, fearing it might pose a danger to others in the community. As the situation continues to unfold, health authorities are focusing on Prakash’s recovery while also ensuring the proper handling of the Russell’s Viper.
