The national capital witnessed the arrival of the fourth flight under ‘Operation Ajay’ from Israel, carrying 274 Indian passengers on Sunday. Union Minister of State General (Retd) VK Singh was present at the airport to receive the passengers, engaging with them and presenting each with the national flag.
MoS for Road Transport and Highways, VK Singh, assured that more evacuation flights would be scheduled in response to the ongoing situation in Israel. Expressing the need for swift action, Singh emphasized the apprehension among Indian citizens in Israel, underlining the closure of universities and the prevailing atmosphere of fear.
“Anxiety is mounting, with people concerned about becoming burdens in the face of the evolving situation. We will continue to operate flights until all registered individuals are safely brought back home,” Singh conveyed to ANI, encouraging people to remain calm and adhere to instructions.
Acknowledging the relentless efforts of the Modi government under ‘Operation Ajay,’ the Indian passengers expressed their gratitude for the prompt evacuation. Speaking to ANI, an Indian student shared their initial fears and commended the swift response by the government, while another passenger emphasized the critical support provided by the Indian embassy during the evacuation process.
A group of ten citizens from Uttarakhand were also among the passengers. Upon their arrival, they were welcomed by the Uttarakhand Government’s representative, facilitating their seamless transition to Uttarakhand Sadan, Delhi, before making arrangements for their further travel.
Recalling her experience, Pushpa Singh, one of the passengers from Uttarakhand, expressed her gratitude for the assistance provided by the Indian Embassy in navigating the crisis.
‘Operation Ajay,’ initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aims to bring back approximately 18,000 Indians from Israel, with the registration process commencing on Thursday. The situation in Israel remains tense, marked by the recent conflict resulting in significant casualties on both sides.
The Indian Embassy in Israel continues to extend support to Indian citizens, offering a dedicated helpline and assistance to Indian companies. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has established a 24-hour control room to monitor the escalating situation and provide necessary aid and information.
