Pakistan drone spotted near international border in Punjab’s Gurdaspur

The drone was seen flying into Indian territory for five minutes before it was shot down with illumination bombs near the BSF's Bhariyal village post.

Officials reported on Thursday that members of the Border Security Force shot down a Pakistani drone close to the village of Bhariyal in the Gurdaspur region of Punjab.

The drone was seen flying into Indian territory for five minutes before it was shot down with illumination bombs near the BSF’s Bhariyal village post.

“The drone kept flying inside the Indian border for 5 minutes, during which 3 rounds of firing were done by BSF and an Ilu bomb was also fired, after which the drone flew back to Pakistan,” BSF said. In a similar incident, BSF personnel intercepted a Pakistani drone near the Dhanoe Kalan in the Amritsar district of the State and recovered packets of narcotics, an official statement said on April 16.

The incident happened on April 15 at about 8:22 p.m. when BSF soldiers detected the buzzing sound of a suspected flying object (drone) entering Indian territory from Pakistan.
A drone that had crossed the Line of Control (LoC) in the Beri Pattan region of Rajouri, Jammu & Kashmir, was tracked and shot down earlier on Thursday.

The PRO further stated that the drone had five loaded AK magazines, some cash, and a sealed packet recovered from it. The 3,323 km international border between India and Pakistan is to be patrolled by BSF.
According to the paramilitary force, on March 28, the BSF shot down a Pakistani drone near Amritsar shortly after it crossed into Indian territory with a shipment of illegal goods.

When the BSF personnel in Amritsar heard the drone’s buzzing sound, they opened fire on it. It was found the following morning as the border patrol was conducting a search operation. According to the BSF, the drone entered Indian territory from Pakistan and was found near Border Outpost Rajatal in the Amritsar Sector.

A package containing six large packets of heroin totaling 6.275 kg was found earlier in February by BSF personnel in the wheat field of Toor village in the Amritsar region.
