Following the death of former Punjab Chief Minister and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) patron Parkash Singh Badal, his supporters and followers will gather at the party office in Chandigarh on Wednesday morning to pay their respects.
According to party leaders, Badal’s mortal remains will be placed for last respects at the SAD office in Chandigarh on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to noon.
“With profound grief we inform abt demise of 5 time CM & SAD patron S Parkash Singh Ji Badal. Mortal remains will be placed for paying last respects at SAD office in Chandigarh from 10 am to 12 noon tom following which they will be taken to vill Badal. Cremation will be held on April 27,” SAD said in a tweet.
On Tuesday, the senior Punjab politician died at the age of 95. He passed away at Fortis Hospital in Mohali.
His final rites will be performed tomorrow at 1 p.m. in his ancestral village Badal. Meanwhile, the central government led by the Bharatiya Janata Party declared two days of national mourning following Badal’s death. For two days, the flag will be flown at half-mast across the country, and all official entertainment programmes have been cancelled.
