“People Will Decide”: Rohini Acharya on BJP’s Prospects in Lok Sabha Polls

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad's daughter Rohini Acharya launched her poll campaign from Saran for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha polls on Tuesday and said that the people will decide whether the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will cross the 400 mark in the Lok Sabha.

“People Will Decide”: Rohini Acharya on BJP’s Prospects in Lok Sabha Polls

Rohini Acharya, daughter of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad, commenced her election campaign from Saran for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha polls. Speaking at the launch, she asserted that the fate of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Lok Sabha, whether it will surpass the 400 mark or not, rests with the people’s verdict.

Expressing pride in her lineage as the daughter of Rabri Devi and Lalu Prasad Yadav, Rohini Acharya emphasized that she harbors no animosity towards anyone. Instead, she entrusted the decision to the electorate, highlighting the democratic process.

Saran constituency, set to go to polls in the fifth phase on May 20, holds significance in Bihar’s political landscape. The BJP has nominated its sitting MP, Rajiv Pratap Rudy, as the candidate from Saran, a constituency the party has dominated since 2014.

Historically, Saran has been a stronghold for Lalu Yadav, who clinched victory from this seat multiple times. However, Rajiv Pratap Rudy has maintained his hold over the constituency in recent elections.

Amidst political maneuvering, Lalu Yadav and his family sought divine blessings at the Hariharnath temple in Bihar’s Saran district, ahead of the electoral fray. However, political opponents interpreted the temple visit as a sign of apprehension in light of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s influence.

Speculations are rife that Rohini Acharya and Misa Bharti, Lalu Yadav’s daughters, may contest the Lok Sabha elections in 2024, with Rohini Acharya likely to contest from Saran and Misa Bharti from Pataliputra Lok Sabha constituency.

Bihar, with its 40 Lok Sabha seats, is gearing up for an electoral showdown across seven phases. In the 2019 elections, the NDA secured a resounding victory, clinching victory on 39 out of 40 seats. The BJP, JD(U), and LJP collectively dominated the electoral landscape.

As the political landscape evolves, all eyes are on Bihar as it prepares for another electoral spectacle, with each phase poised to shape the future political trajectory of the state.
