Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a speech in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, stressing the importance of development projects for nation-building rather than political endeavors. Inaugurating and laying the foundation stone for several railway projects, PM Modi emphasized that these initiatives are geared towards securing a brighter future for India, especially its youthful population.
Addressing the gathering, PM Modi highlighted the historic shift in government focus from political self-interest to national development, particularly in the realm of Indian Railways. He underscored his administration’s commitment to modernizing the railway infrastructure and ensuring the welfare of future generations.
PM Modi cited the Eastern and Western dedicated freight corridors as emblematic of progress achieved in the past decade. These corridors, he explained, enhance transportation efficiency, benefiting sectors such as agriculture, industry, exports, and business. The Prime Minister noted the significant expansion of the freight corridor, facilitating faster goods transportation across the country.
Moreover, PM Modi outlined the development of industrial corridors along the railway routes, signaling a broader economic impact. He emphasized the government’s push for self-reliance (‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’) and promoting local products through initiatives like the One Station One Product scheme, which provides a platform for artisans and self-help groups to showcase their goods at railway stations.
Highlighting Indian Railways’ role in promoting cultural and religious tourism, PM Modi mentioned initiatives such as the Bharat Gaurav trains and Aastha special trains, facilitating pilgrimage journeys for devotees. He expressed pride in the integration of heritage preservation with modern development efforts.
Concluding his address, PM Modi assured continued momentum in the modernization of Indian Railways, urging citizens to collaborate in the journey of development.
Earlier in the event, PM Modi inaugurated various developmental projects worth over Rs 1,06,000 crores at the Dedicated Freight Corridor’s Operation Control Centre in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
