Born on August 7, 1925, in Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu, Mankombu Sambasivan Swaminathan, affectionately known as MS Swaminathan, leaves behind a legacy that has irrevocably reshaped the landscape of Indian agriculture and global food security.
